MY CREATIVE JOURNEY

Some artists spend a lifetime searching for their voice. Mine turned out to have three.

Before there were artist names, albums, or recording projects, there was simply a songwriter from south Louisiana fascinated by melody, harmony, and the emotional power of music. Songs came first. Everything else grew from finding different ways to let them speak.
 
 

Isadar — The Composer

Isadar is the voice of the piano.

Inspired by artists such as Liz Story, George Winston, and the Windham Hill movement, I discovered that the piano could do far more than accompany a melody—it could become the storyteller itself. My music grew into a personal blend of classical technique, jazz improvisation, and the accessibility of American folk music.

What began partly as a practical decision—recording solo piano because it was within my financial reach while larger recording projects remained out of reach—became something far more meaningful. I discovered a musical voice that required no lyrics, no performer, and no persona. There is very little ego in Isadar. The piano says everything that needs to be said.

That journey continues today. Whenever inspiration arrives, Isadar remains the home for those compositions.
 
 

Amphabian — The Songwriter

While Isadar explored music without words, another creative path was developing alongside it.

Amphabian became the home for my vocal music: songs about relationships, identity, psychology, dreams, and the complexity of being human. The name itself quietly concealed a personal connection—”Am Fabian”—reflecting that these stories, while often written through fictional characters, were rooted in genuine emotional questions.

For many years, I believed the only way to bring those songs into the world was to become the recording artist myself. Like many independent musicians of my generation, I pursued recording, production, and performance because they seemed inseparable from the songs. The dream was never simply to make records. The dream was to give the songs a life beyond the notebook.
 
 

Hard Magic — The Re-Imagination

Hard Magic represents both a continuation and a new beginning.

After decades of writing, recording, and carefully preserving my archives, new creative AI tools made it possible to revisit songs in ways I could never have imagined when they were first written. Some had been released. Others existed only as demos, instrumental sketches, unfinished melodies, or fragments waiting patiently for the right moment.

Rather than trying to recreate the past, Hard Magic asks a different question:

“What was this song always trying to become?”

Today I create detailed songwriting demos—clear melodies, harmonies, bass lines, and vocal performances—and then collaborate with AI as another creative instrument, allowing each song to discover its own voice and sonic world. The songwriting remains mine; the interpretations become something wonderfully unexpected.

This process has changed how I see myself as an artist.

For much of my life, I aspired to become a recording artist in the traditional sense. What I eventually discovered is that my deepest calling was always songwriting. Hearing these songs interpreted through different voices and productions has been both surprising and deeply moving. It reminds me that a song is often larger than any single performance.
 
 

Looking Forward

Today, Isadar, Amphabian, and Hard Magic are not separate identities competing for attention.

They are three expressions of the same creative life.

Isadar is where the piano speaks. Amphabian is where stories find their voice. Hard Magic is where those stories continue to evolve.
The names may be different, but the purpose has remained the same: To write music that connects with people—and to give every song the opportunity to become everything it was meant to be.
